We will be having our parent meeting for Boys Basketball on Wednesday, October 11 at 6:30. We will be meeting in the cafeteria after practice. Each player needs to have a parent attend this meeting and it should not last much more than 30 minutes. There will be some documents that need to be signed, payment of activity fees, discussions on rules and procedures, and concession information.
A recent dental exam is required for all students in the Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grades. Dental Safari will be coming to Rome School on November 2nd. If you would like your student to receive a dental exam by the Dental Safari dentist, please register online or return the Dental Safari paperwork to the nurse's office before the end of October. The paperwork will be sent home today.
I want to apologize for all the confusion and all the changes this week. We are continually striving to improve communication between the Athletic Director, coaches, parents, athletes, and the district. With all the moving parts this week, errors can be made. Again, I want to apologize and thank everyone for their understanding.

The SIJHSAA has changed the penalties for ejections from games for coaches, players, and fans. I want to remind everyone that Rome Grade School will strictly enforce these penalties and that these ejections can come from officials and administrators from our school or that of the host team. The use of profane language and threats, actual or perceived, can not and will not be tolerated. I know that tempers can run high when our children are involved but please remember that you are representing our school and your child’s team and that you are ultimately responsible for your words and your actions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school and speak to the Athletic Director.

Rome’s baseball team will be having their 8th grade night on Thursday, September 14th at 4:30pm against Spring Garden. We will be remembering our late teammate Braden Tate at this game by wearing his #6 on each jersey. If you would also like to participate in wearing #6, below is the link to order shirts through Wilford Printing. The deadline to order is September 5th. Orders can be picked up at their store, shipped to your home, or delivered to the school for pick-up. We look forward to seeing everyone at the game!

A message from Nurse April:
Medication orders must be renewed yearly for all over the counter or prescription medications that students need to take during school. A complete order is required before we can accept/administer medication. Weather permitting, Nurse April will have a table set up in front of the gym doors on Friday to accept completed physicians orders and medication. Attached is a copy of our student medication form.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM SARAH MELLOTT, ROME SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR
Several schools across the State have received calls about possible threats today; however, Rome did not receive a call. We were advised by authorities to implement a soft lockdown. All students have been indoors and will remain indoors for the remainder of the day as a precautionary measure. We have since been notified that there is no longer an active threat.
Please know that we take these situations very seriously as the safety of all students and staff is our top priority.
We would like to thank the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and our SRO, Deputy Smith, for their communication and guidance this morning.
